Say no to car for one day and use public transport, cycling or walking to celebrate Dubai Annual Car Free Day on 21 February 2016.
More than 1,000 organisations and companies are expected to take part in the annual Car Free Day on Sunday
Alya Abdul Rahim Harmoudi, director of the Environment Department at Dubai Municipality, thanked those who have already pledged to take part, but said the city would only see a difference if everyone gets involved.
He said “Car Free Day is organised to encourage the local community to think and care about their country and reduce the number of vehicles on the road. The Car Free Day campaign in 2015 saved the environment from being exposed to three tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.
“More than 1,000 municipality employees used public transportation to reach work and a total of 15,000 vehicles were off the roads in 2015, as the emirate marked its Car Free Day.”
